Enhancing Online Learning

The power of online learning cannot be fully realized until we begin integrating tools which appeal to multiple learning styles and let students interact with their learning materials. When instructors use multiple approaches to the material being presented throughout their online courses, along with various types of assignments and assessments, the learning styles of all students will be engaged in the learning process.
The eLearning staff is dedicated to helping you find the correct tools to support your instructional objectives while meeting the needs of a diverse learning population. The following applications are provided by Gadsden State to the faculty to assist with this process.

Available Software

Respondus is a powerful tool for creating and managing exams that can be printed to paper or published directly to Blackboard. Exams can be created offline using a familiar Windows environment, or moved from one eLearning system to another. Whether you are a veteran of online testing or relatively new to it, Respondus will save you hours on each project.

Respondus LockDown Browser

Respondus LockDown Browser™ is a custom browser that locks down the testing environment within Blackboard. When students use Respondus LockDown Browser they are unable to print, copy, go to another URL, or access other applications. When an assessment is started, students are locked into it until they submit it for grading. (Supports Windows and Mac OS X 10.3.9+.)

Turnitin Originality Checking allows instructors to check students' work for improper citation or potential plagiarism by comparing it against continuously updated databases. Turnitin integrates fully with Blackboard

SafeAssign is a plagiarism prevention service. This service helps educators prevent plagiarism by detecting unoriginal content in student papers. In addition to acting as a plagiarism deterrent, it also has features designed to aid in educating students about plagiarism and importance of proper attribution of any borrowed content.
