Respondus System Requirements

 

Respondus LockDown Browser

Respondus LockDown Browser™ is a secure browser for taking exams in Blackboard. It prevents you from printing, copying, going to another URL, or accessing other applications during an assessment. If a Blackboard exam requires that Respondus LockDown Browser be used, the exam will not be accessible with a standard web browser.

Respondus LockDown Browser should only be used for taking examinations in Blackboard. It should not be used in other areas of Blackboard.

Windows: 8, 7, Vista, XP
Mac: OS X 10.5 or higher

Memory
Windows: 128 MB RAM
Mac: 512 MB RAM

Windows: 4 MB of free hard disk space
Mac: 2 MB of free hard disk space

Windows: The file size is approximately 4 MB
Mac: The file size is approximately 1 MB

Browser Requirements
Windows Users: Internet Explorer 7 or higher must be configured to the minimum requirements for the Learning Management System being used (it does NOT have to be the default browser on the computer). If applicable, Internet Explorer must be able to pass the Learning Management System’s browser check.

Mac Users: The Safari browser must be configured to the minimum requirements for the Learning Management System being used (it does NOT have to be the default browser for the computer).

Respondus Monitor

Respondus Monitor™ is a companion product for LockDown Browser that enables institutions to protect the integrity of non-proctored, online exams. Students use their own computer and a webcam to record assessment sessions, all without leaving the institution's learning management system.

  • Internet Explorer (Windows) or Safari (Mac) must function properly on the computer
  • Adobe Flash Player
  • Web camera (internal or external) & microphone
  • A broadband internet connection

Respondus 4.0

Respondus is a powerful tool for creating and managing exams that can be printed to paper or published directly to Blackboard. Exams can be created offline using a familiar Windows environment. Whether you are a veteran of online testing or relatively new to it, Respondus will save you hours on each project.
