Application Process
Applications are taken from all interested persons in the target area. The application contains basic demographic and educational information, counselor and teacher recommendations, eligibility information, parent educational status, transcripts, and other relevant information.
Documentation of low-income status is obtained from the family, school or governmental agency as part of the application process. Acceptable verification of parental income may include copies of a 1040 tax form, welfare certification, SSI verification, or other official verification of income.
Students must meet eligibility requirements mandated by the US Department of Education for acceptance into the Upward Bound program.

Orientation: During orientation, students and parents/guardians receive the rules and regulations of the program. They are required to sign if in agreement. Those students who have jobs should have their employer work around the class schedule.

Assessment: Students are pre-tested to determine strengths and weaknesses. (They will be post-tested at the end of the session.) During the assessment, an Individual Plan for Academic Success (IPAS) form is filled out for each participant.
