Our motto for the program is: “Upward Bound Moving Upward, Onward.” These sentiments describe the program to a “T.” We are continually seeking ways to enhance our program’s curriculum with innovative academic and supportive services; thus ensuring a successful transition from high school to college, and ultimately, the work force.
I am especially proud of our Upward Bound graduates who successfully completed the program, and were bridged over into college courses this summer; and for their cohorts, who we believe, will successfully follow in their path.
I’ve commented on several occasions as to feeling like a birth mother to many of these students; and in a way, these feelings are not so far fetched as it relates to the mission of the program. For you see, we plant seeds into the hearts and minds of the students, feed and water them in times of need, and watch them grow and bloom into productive citizens.
Yes, it’s all about direction. Not so much as to where we’ve been, but in what direction we’re headed; and we are moving upward...onward!
