Veterans Upward Bound (VUB) is a pre-college program designed to motivate and assist veterans in developing academic and other requisite skills necessary to successfully enroll in and complete a postsecondary education program.

Program eligibility is not limited to veterans planning to attend Gadsden State

Eligibility Requirements

  • U.S. military veteran with a minimum of 181 days of active duty, or
  • If less than 181 days, discharge or release is due to a service connected disability, or
  • A member of a reserve component of the Armed Forces called to active duty for a period of more than 30 days, or
  • A member of a reserve component of the Armed Forces who served on active duty in support of a contingency operation on or after September 11, 2001
  • All discharges qualify except dishonorable
  • All participants must be low-income (based on family income & number of dependents) or first generation college students (neither parent earned a 4-year degree) or high risk for academic failure.
