3. How much disk space is required for recordings?

The typical composition includes:
The amounts of storage and bandwidth required to support one hour of recording varies depending on the type of content being recorded. Based on extensive customer content surveys, we assume that on average, the storage requirements are about 56 MB per hour of recording based on the breakdown below.

With use of the Enhanced Mode a recording can be up to 200MB per 1 hour

Notes:
1.  Allowing students to download the sessions (in addition to streaming)  doubles the storage requirement on the server since each recording must to be stored twice - once packaged for streaming, and once packaged for download.
2.  Enabling Enhanced Podcasting will add 12MB per hour of recording.  Enabling MP3 will add an additional 7MB per hour

Storage requirements per content type:

The following table describes the theoretical size associated with a 1 hour recording of different content types. Note that the typical recording contains a combination of these types depending on the instructor’s teaching style.

4. How much bandwidth per user is required?

While the average data transfer across the Tegrity customer base for 1000 active students per month is about 30GB, there are wide variations depending on each student’s expected behavior. For example, a distance learning student is likely to watch the majority of the recordings from start to end, while a typical on-campus student is likely to watch only 15 minutes of selective content as a replay from class.

Note: The table above assumes that all users are connected to the Internet using the same connection speed. In reality, various users may be connected using various connection speeds, and your bandwidth requirements may vary.

5. What security features does Tegrity include?

Customers usually put Tegrity content behind standard login security measures offered by their CMS and IIS. Tegrity offers additional copy protection for any downloaded recording (playable only on the computer that is was downloaded to) and optional password protection for individual recordings. Tegrity Campus Agreement customers also have the option to authenticate by IP address.

Digital Rights Management (DRM) is built into all of our recordings which means all downloadable sessions can not be shared.

6. Does the student's client require any downloading of software to enable Tegrity?

Students viewing Tegrity recordings in their web browser require no additional software.

Notes Users require Tegrity Notes software for students, which is installed via a CD or secure download site.

Podcasting Users need Apple’s free iTunes application to subscribe to course podcasts.
