Advisement @ Gadsden State
Enrollment Advisement – occurs your first semester at Gadsden State. The Office of Enrollment Services helps you transition from an admitted student to an enrolled student. Enrollment Specialists help you finalize your admissions process, login to the myGadsdenstate student system, understand placement requirements, identify your faculty advisor, and plan the next steps toward getting started in your first semester.
Faculty Advisement – should occur EVERY semester at Gadsden State. Faculty advisors help you understand course placement, select classes each semester, explore career options and plan a course of study. Faculty advisors use resources like Degreeworks and STARS to assist you with graduation and transfer planning. Faculty advisors may also offer advice on course forgiveness, academic bankruptcy, and selective program admissions.
Once clear in the Admissions office, each student is assigned a faculty advisor. You will receive an introduction email from your faculty advisor with their contact information. Use that information to contact them as soon as possible and schedule an appointment.
Secondary Advisement – targets specific students. Students taking one or more developmental courses will be assigned to a secondary advisor through the Advising Resource Center. Secondary advisors ensure students know how and where to get academic support for continued success.
