HOPE/LIFETIME LEARNING TAX CREDIT
A student, or the person who claims the student as a dependent, who pays out of pocket for tuition and related expenses excluding insurance and books, may qualify for the Hope credit or the Lifetime Learning credit on the taxpayer's federal tax return. A Tuition Payment Statement (1098-T) is mailed to the student's address on file, if the payment for qualifying expenses exceeds the amount received from scholarships and/or grants for the year.
Students can receive an account summary for the year by contacting Shirley Napper, Wallace Drive Campus Allen Hall Room 106 by phoning 256-549-8214, or emailing snapper@gadsdenstate.edu. Students are required to show a photo ID when picking up an account summary. A phone or e-mail request for an account summary will be mailed to the student's address on file.
GSCC cannot give tax advice; please contact your tax accountant and/or the IRS for more information about the Hope Scholarship Lifetime Learning Tax Credit. Hope Scholarship Web Page
