Financial Aid Month

February is designated as Financial Aid Month due to various deadlines and the importance of the application procedure. Gadsden State Community College is hosting three workshops to enlighten students and parents on how to apply for financial aid and scholarships. During these workshops Kelly D’Eath, financial aid director at Gadsden State, will present information about the definition of financial aid, including how to apply for and retain financial aid.

D’Eath will be providing workshops throughout the month in various high schools at their request. There will be three workshops held on the Gadsden State Campuses that are free and the public is invited to attend. The first two workshops will be Saturday, February 16, 10:00 a.m. at the Ayers Campus (Anniston) in the Learning Resource Center and Saturday, February 23, 10:00 a.m. at the Wallace Drive Campus (Gadsden) in the Inzer Cafeteria. These workshops are sponsored by Gadsden State’s Upward Bound Program. An additional workshop will be held on the Wallace Drive Campus on Monday, March 17, 6:00 p.m. in the Inzer Student Center and will be sponsored by the Talent Search Program at Gadsden State. “Students and parents are welcome to bring their tax information to this workshop for assistance with completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).” The FAFSA form may be accessed online from www.gadsdenstate.edu.

D’Eath reminds students, “All scholarship applications must be postmarked by March 1 and only complete applications will be considered.” At Gadsden State a wide range of scholarship opportunities are available in academic, athletic, performing arts, leadership, alumni and endowment scholarships.

Students may get additional information concerning scholarships and financial aid from Gadsden State, Monday through Thursday, 7:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. and Friday, 7:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. For more information contact Kelly D’Eath at kdeath@gadsdenstate.edu or (256) 549-8266.
