Federal Work Study Payroll
Funded by the Federal Government, Federal Work Study is available to financial aid applicants who demonstrate financial need. Students must complete a work study application to be considered for this program.
Federal Work Study Awards are made by the Financial Aid Office in the One Stop Center, Once a student is awarded Federal Work Study, job assignments are made by the Financial Aid Office based upon information provided by the student on a work study application.
Budget Managers can contact the Financial Aid Office , One Stop Center, to inquire about a Federal Work Study Student working in their area. Eligible students can work 8 to 19 hours per week, on or off campus. Work Study students cannot work during semester breaks or periods of non enrollment.
Students participating in the Federal Work Study Program maintain a time sheet in the department to which they are assigned and are paid for actual hours worked. It is the student's responsibility to arrange an agreeable work schedule with the supervisor. Each month the student and the supervisor sign the completed time sheet and it is sent to Susan Smith in the Financial Aid Office. There is a date each month when time sheets must be received by Ms. Smith.
Ms. Smith prepares the payroll listing from the reported hours and sends the listing to the Payroll Office for payment. Ms. Smith keeps all time sheets along with a copy of the prepared payroll listing for auditing purposes and as a permanent record for the Federal Work Study Program.
Federal Work Study checks are directly deposited into the student's account on the last working day of the month.
