EDUCATION

Wallace Hall Fine Arts Center is at the heart of arts education at Gadsden State Community College. Our
primary mission is education through arts. Every year thousands of students visit the Center for music
competitions, choral festivals, youth dramas, musical productions, operas, and plays. Since opening in 1968 an
estimated 1.2 million students of all educational backgrounds have visited the center. We invite you to explore

OUR RESIDENT ORGANIZATIONS


Etowah County School System Dramas
The Etowah County School System comprised of 22 schools with over 8,500 students produces a fall and
spring play annually. Since this program's inception over 150,000 students have been introduced to the

Etowah Youth Symphony Orchestras
Recognized nationally for their commitment to new music, the Etowah Youth Orchestras entertain large,
enthusiastic crowds at concerts throughout the year. Four ensembles – the Etowah Youth Symphony
Orchestra, EYS Honor Strings, Etowah Symphonic Wind Ensemble, and June Bugg Prelude Strings make

Downtown Dance Conservatory
The Downtown Dance Conservatory, located within the Mary G. Hardin Center for Cultural Arts, is
dedicated to preserving the art form of dance, spreading awareness of dance education throughout the
community, and has a registry of nearly two hundred students. The program is founded in classical and
contemporary dance. The Downtown Dance Conservatory will be a place of endless creativity,

Gadsden State Music Department
The Wallace Hall Fine Arts Center is home to the Gadsden State Music Department. With the Show Band,
Choral Group and the Southern Belle dancers the music department offers opportunities for seasoned
performers as well as beginners music theory classes.

Gadsden State Theatre Department
The Gadsden State Theatre Department produces two plays a year and have always been wildly successful.
From the magic of Peter Pan and Cinderella to the gritty humor of Little Shop of Horrors the Gadsden State
productions continue to enthral audiences.
