CELEBRATE NURSES 2010 SEMINAR

Gadsden State Community College Continuing Education in conjunction with Nursing Education will sponsor ”Celebrate Nurses 2010” Thursday, May 6 at Helderman Hall on the Wallace Drive Campus. Seminar presenters include Dr. Chauncey Thuss, Jr., of the Occupational Health Center at Gadsden Regional Medical, Brad Doleys, MS, of Mountain View Hospital and Rev. Joan Henrick of Holy Comforter Episcopal Church. The program is scheduled for 8 a.m. – 3 p.m. and attendees will receive 6 CEUs. Gadsden State Administrator Honored

Dr. Valerie Richardson, vice president of Gadsden State Community College, was recently honored by the Girl Scouts of North-Central Alabama as a 2010 Woman of Distinction. This award is presented annually to recognize area women who demonstrate excellence in various fields such as education, business, government, volunteer services, multicultural activities and Girl Scouting. Richardson was honored along with nine other women at a luncheon held at Jacksonville State University.

Professional Women of Gadsden Award

Two administrators from Gadsden State Community College were chosen by the Gadsden-Etowah County Chapter of the Southern Christian Leadership Coalition (SCLC) as 2010 Professional Women of the Year. Dr. Michele G. Bradford, director of diversity and compliance, and Dr. Valerie Richardson, vice president, were recognized during a reception held at the Wills Creek District Building. They were chosen for their participation in professional activities, civic and community involvement.
