Fab Four to Appear at Wallace Hall/Be the Match & Blood Drives

Black History Month Events/ “Traditions” at Cherokee

Gadsden State Celebrates Black History Month

Gadsden State will celebrate Black History Month with a number of events this February. The Office of Diversity and Compliance is partnering with the Valley Street Campus and the Upward Bound Programs to sponsor motivational speaker Dr. Montrell Greene’s  “Yes, I Can” workshop on Saturday, February 9 in the Inzer Cafeteria on the Wallace Drive Campus.  Pre-registration is required for this free event by contacting Dr. Michele Bradford at mbradford@gadsdenstate.edu or 256-439-6822.

On Tuesday, February 12, the Valley Street Campus will sponsor a Red Cross blood drive from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Gadsden State and the Gadsden Public Library will sponsor a Black History Month Film Festival at the Wallace Hall Fine Arts Center at 7 p.m. Monday, February 18 through Wednesday, February 21.  Admission is free. On Monday, “The Tuskgee Airmen” will be shown and Tuesday, “The Great Debaters” will be shown. The festival will end Wednesday with “The Pursuit of Happyness.”

An event at the Gadsden State Cherokee Campus, “Traditions: A Black History Celebration,” will take place at 6:00 pm on February 28 in the Community Meeting Room. Performances for the event will include the MLK Jr. Community Choir, comprised of various churches in the Cherokee County area, singing traditional gospel songs and PUSH ministries which will showcase a group of high school students performing a step routine.  This community event is free and the program is appropriate for any age group.  In addition, during the week of February 18 – 21, Black History Month movies will be shown. More information concerning times and locations is forthcoming.

Cardinal Gateway Ribbon Cutting Ceremony Feb. 11

Gadsden State Community College will celebrate the opening of the new Cardinal Gateway on February 11.  There will be an open house to welcome the community beginning at 10:00 a.m. at the Automotive Services Technology
