Gadsden State Employees Graduate from Academy

Jacqueline Clark, director of financial services, and Mario Gallardo, art instructor, are recent graduates of the Alabama Community College Leadership Academy.  The Academy is sponsored by the University of Alabama Colleges of Continuing Studies and Education in cooperation with the Alabama Community College System, the University of Alabama System, and the Alabama Commission on Higher Education.



Two Health Care Programs Awarded Accreditation

Acting President Bill Blow commended the instructors and administrators for keeping the standards high and achieving accreditation in the Associate Degree Nursing and Therapeutic Massage programs.  “We are pleased that the conscientiousness and dedication of our Health Science Division has been rewarded with these prestigious awards.  Gadsden State is an integral part of the health care industry in our service area and we feel these accreditations contribute to validating the quality of our students,” remarked Blow.



Gadsden State Outstanding Alumna Chosen for American Association of Community College Award

Gadsden, Ala.–Toshiko Abe, deputy foreign minister for the Japanese government and a member of the House of Representatives, is a recipient of the 2014 Outstanding Alumni Award presented by the American Association of Community Colleges (AACC).



Technical Students Compete at State SkillsUSA Leadership Conference

Gadsden State students earned five gold medals, seven silver medals, and one bronze medal during the 2014 Alabama SkillsUSA Leadership Conference, Career Expo and State Championships held recently in Birmingham. During the two-day event, students competed in more than 80 different categories including carpentry, precision machining, electrical wiring, architectural drafting, automotive refinishing and welding.
