Cardinal Athletic Camps Begin in June

The Gadsden State Community College Cardinals Athletic Department will host the following camps this summer for basketball and volleyball:

June 2-3         Jr. Varsity Boys Basketball Team Camp ($300 per team)

June 4-5         Varsity Boys Basketball Team Camp ($400 per team)

June 7             Boys Big Varsity Camp ($400 per team)

June 9-10       Varsity Boys Basketball Camp ($400 per team)


June 11 & 12              Girls Basketball Middle School Play Dates ($100 per team/per day)

June 16, 17, 23 & 24  Varsity Girls Basketball Play Dates ($150 per team/per day)

June 18 & 19              Jr. Varsity Girls Basketball Play Dates ($150 per team/per day)

All camps will be held at Beck Field House on the Wallace Drive Campus in Gadsden.  The boys’ varsity and junior varsity camps will be held from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. The girls’ varsity, junior varsity and middle school camps will begin at 9:00 a.m. and conclude at 6:00 p.m. each day. Cardinal basketball coaches Todd Ginn and John Butts will conduct the camps.

Volleyball camp dates have been scheduled as follows:

July 14-15       Team Camp ($50.00 per player)

July 17-18       Individual Camp ($50.00 per player) 

July 28 & 30   Varsity Play dates ($100 per team)

Volleyball team camps are open to middle school, junior varsity or varsity players but for scheduling purposes those interested in participating should contact Coach Angie Sanders at 256-390-3565 by July 1. Camps will meet at Gadsden State’s Beck Field House from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 pm.

Camp Cardinal offered for Grades K-8

Summer vacation is rapidly approaching, and Gadsden State  has the solution for summer boredom with the annual Camp Cardinal Program.  Slated to begin June 2 in Anniston, Centre, and Gadsden, Camp Cardinal provides grade school students with a unique experience filled with education and fun.


Gadsden State Employees Graduate from Academy

Jacqueline Clark, director of financial services, and Mario Gallardo, art instructor, are recent graduates of the Alabama Community College Leadership Academy.  The Academy is sponsored by the University of Alabama Colleges of Continuing Studies and Education in cooperation with the Alabama Community College System, the University of Alabama System, and the Alabama Commission on Higher Education.

Society of Success Inducts New Class of Leaders

Sigma Alpha Pi, the Gadsden State Community College Chapter of the National Society for Leadership and Success, recently inducted 40 new student members in a ceremony held at Browder Hall on the Wallace Drive Campus.  To be eligible for membership, students attend at least three motivational seminars, three success-networking meetings and one leadership training seminar.
