Robo Camp 2009 was two, week-long sessions focusing on Robotics. The camp offered exciting pre-college enrichment activities based on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) disciplines to develop and encourage interest among middle and high school students in a variety of STEM-related careers, particularly in Automotive Manufacturing. The camp was designed with fun activities to foster interest in these fields and encourage 5th though 9th graders to choose academically advanced courses. The participants used the NXT Lego Mindstorm® Kits and Alice® Programming Software to learn fundamental programming concepts, basic robot construction and robot programming.

Gadsden State hosted tours of the mechanical design, electronics and industrial automation technologies labs. CARCAM provided robotic materials that support the STEM activities. The students enjoyed hands-on activities during their time on campus.

While at the Episcopal Day School, the students built LEGO® Mindstorm robots and constructed a take-home robotic car.
