Gadsden State Community College will host two concerts presented by the new Gadsden Live Performance Series Consortium. The performance series is a
joint project between the Gadsden Cultural Arts Foundation, The Gadsden Times, and Gadsden State. All events will be held at the Wallace Hall Fine Arts Center located on the Wallace Drive Campus in Gadsden.
The series will begin with Ricky Skaggs and Kentucky Thunder on Saturday, January 26, 2013. Skaggs and his award-winning group will perform with their trademark blend of classic bluegrass sounds, modern vitality and charisma. The winner of fourteen Grammy awards, multiple Country Music Association awards, and twelve number one hits, Skaggs and Kentucky Thunder are among Nashville’s most revered and established performers.
The inaugural series will conclude with a performance by The Fab Four on Friday, February 22, 2013. The Fab Four’s stage show includes three costume changes representing every era of the Beatles ever-changing career. This tribute to the Beatles has played to audiences around the world, including Japan, Australia, France, Hong Kong, the United Kingdom, Germany, Mexico and Brazil. Hear record-perfect live performances of such classics as “Can’t Buy Me Love,” “Yesterday,” “A Day In The Life,” “Twist And Shout,” “Here Comes The Sun,” and “Hey Jude.”
Ticket sales begin Friday, November 16, at noon and may be purchased at the Hardin Center for Cultural Arts, by phone at 256-543-ARTS, online at www.gadsdenlive.org, or at the Wallace Hall Fine Arts Center on the day of the show.
Gadsden State President Raymond W. Staats said, “We are excited to partner with the Gadsden Cultural Arts Foundation and The Gadsden Times to bring professional performing artists to our community. We anticipate a great response to the inaugural series this spring, and we are hard at work planning an even bigger series for the 2013-2014 season. The executive producer of the Moscow Ballet said it best after their hugely successful performance last fall, ‘Gadsden is on the rise.’”
