Holiday Closing

Gadsden State will be closed in observance of the Christmas and New Year’s holidays beginning Monday, December 24 through Wednesday, January 2,

2013.  Regular office hours will resume and local professional development meetings for faculty and staff will be held on Thursday, January 3.  College hours are Monday through Thursday from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Friday from 7:00 to 11:30 a.m.   Registration for Spring Semester 2013 will be held January 7-8 and classes begin January 9, 2013.  View the Spring schedule at


Veterans Upward Bound at Gadsden State

Military veterans residing in Blount, Calhoun, Cherokee, Cleburne, DeKalb, Etowah, Jefferson, Marshall, St. Clair or Talladega County are invited to take advantage of the free services offered through the Veterans Upward Bound (VUB) Program at Gadsden State Community College.  Enrollment at Gadsden State or any other college or university is not mandatory in order to participate.  The Student Veteran’s Association will meet at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 8, and the VUB Program will hold an Open House on Wednesday, January 9 from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.  Both events will take place in Beck Field House on the Wallace Drive Campus in Gadsden.  For more information or to see if you are eligible to receive free services to help you continue your education contact the VUB Office at 256-549-8286/8328 or email


Veterans Upward Bound Workshop

The Gadsden State  Veterans Upward Bound Program will hold a free Computer and Study Skills Workshop at Beck Field House on Wednesday, January 16 at 11:00 a.m.  The workshop is open to all veterans and will offer assistance with computer skills ranging from beginner to intermediate.  For more information about the workshop call 256-549-8286/8328 or email


McClellan Bookworms to Meet Twice in January

The December meeting of the McClellan Bookworms has been postponed until Friday, January 4, 2013 to discuss the book, Bride of New France by Isabell Wolf.  A second meeting will be held Friday, January 25, 2013 to discuss the book of the month Casual Vacancy by JK Rowling.
