College Transfer Day at Gadsden State
Gadsden State will host two Transfer Day events on January 31 at the Ayers and Wallace Drive campuses. The Ayers session will be held from 8:00 to 9:30 a.m. in the Cain Learning Resource Center. The Wallace Drive session will be
held in the Inzer Student Center Cafeteria from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Representatives from four-year colleges and universities will be present to answer questions and provide prospective students with information on scholarships, financial aid, and housing. Massage Therapy Clinics
Massage Therapy Clinics have reopened for spring at Helderman Hall on the Wallace Drive Campus of Gadsden State Community College. Massages will be provided by students in the Therapeutic Massage Program at a cost of $25 an hour. Call 256-549-8326 in advance to schedule an appointment or leave a message with your contact information so that your appointment can be confirmed. Appointments may be scheduled for Thursdays at 8:30, 10:00, & 11:30 a.m., and also at 1:30 p.m. Gift certificates for hourly massages are also available. The McClellan Bookworms will meet Friday, February 22, at 10:00 a.m. at the McClellan Center Conference Room. The book of the month is Secrets of Mary Bowser by Lois Leveen. “SMARTHINKING” ONLINE TUTORING AVAILABLE
“SMARTHINKING”, an online student tutoring and academic assistance service, is now available at Gadsden State Community College. “SMARTHINKING” is open to Gadsden State students 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Students will be able to receive support and study resources in areas such as; math, English, science, and office administration. The service can be accessed through blackboard. If students have questions, or need assistance with service contact the Counseling and Advising Center at 256-549-8307.
New Student Registration for Free GED Classes
New students may now register for free GED classes being offered at Gadsden State Community College. Students may register by coming to the 2nd Floor of Brown Hall located on the East Broad Campus beginning at 8:00 a.m. (no late arrivals) and should be completed by 12:30 p.m. Registration is held first and third Friday of each month. Evening registration is available on the second and fourth Wednesday of each month from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. GED classes are free, and are open to all adults 17 or older who have not finished high school. Those who are 16 or 17 years old must call 1-877-243-8433 prior to registration. Classes are designed to improve reading, writing, and math skills, and increase general knowledge in social studies and general science.
