Cardinal Tennis Team members Jacob Mitchell of Rome, Ga., Quntel Walker of Gadsden, and Trey White of Boaz were named to the All-Conference Team at the Alabama Community College
Conference Region 22 State Tennis Tournament at the Jimmy Johns Tennis Center in Decatur, Ala. The 16th ranked Cardinals were in 8 of the 9 finals matches and finished the tournament with 11 points, one point behind Marion. The deciding match was a hard fought battle between the Cardinal’s Jacob Mitchell and Marion’s Gabe Llewellyn. Gadsden State managed wins at #5 singles (Walker), #6 Singles (White), and #3 Doubles (Walker and Mitchell) while Marion captured the other titles. “As a team, you always want to be in a position to compete for the title at the end of the season. I was very proud of the way our team battled and every player who competed contributed to our point total. We came up short by a single point to a very good team but the progress that we’ve made since January was obvious. Our team worked really hard and we had great chemistry this year. The leadership of our sophomores, particularly team captain Aaron Triplett, was awesome,” said Coach Buster Stewart.
