Gadsden State Community College students are welcome to attend the Calhoun County Chamber of Commerce “Get Linked” event at the Hampton Inn in Jacksonville on Monday, October 7, from 4-6 p.m. This event will provide students the opportunity to connect with area professionals of all levels.
The first hour of the event consists of a panel discussion, with students participating in a Q&A on “Building Your Resume and Networking.” The second hour will be a meet and mingle time for students to meet area business professionals, consisting of the panel members and other Chamber members in attendance, as well as fellow students. The four member panel consists of Renee Rice of R&R Travel in Oxford, Jonathan Mosley of Small Town bank of Oxford, Rodney Owens of Anniston Water Works and Sewer Board, and Andrea Miller of Autumn Cove in Anniston. With various Chamber members in attendance, doors of opportunity could be opened for those who attend.
The Chamber’s mission is to link students with area business leaders and help them create connections that will aid them in clinching this semester’s internship or tomorrow’s dream job. According to Forbes, 69% of companies with 100 or more employees offered full-time jobs to their interns in 2012? According to Internships.com, 54% of recent graduates are unemployed or underemployed; the best chance students have to not to be part of that statistic is to do an internship.
Please mark your calendars and make plans to attend this event on Monday, October 7, from 4-6 p.m. at the Hampton Inn in Jacksonville.
