The Fine Arts Department at Gadsden State Community College and the Gadsden State Band Boosters will host the 22nd annual Middle/Junior High School Honor Band Clinic November 13 and 14, at Wallace Hall, located on the Wallace Drive Campus of Gadsden State.
The Honor Band Clinic is for musicians in grades 5 through 9. It is a pre-requisite of the All-State Junior High School Band and gives students the chance to participant in an honor band. Approximately 45 schools from throughout the state will be participating.
The deadline to submit student registrations is November 4. Band directors or advisors may check-in their students from 3 – 5 p.m. on Friday, November 13. Students are to report directly to Wallace Hall Auditorium for a general meeting at 3:30 p.m. The clinic will conclude at 6 p.m. Saturday, November 14, with a free concert open to the public at Wallace Hall.
Several high school band directors will instruct the anticipated 300 participating students. “It’s a wonderful experience for the young musicians to meet other musicians and enjoy learning from a variety of professional band directors,” according to Gadsden State Band Director Rip Reagan.
The registration fee is $50 per student and covers meals and awards for students during the clinic. For more information contact Rip Reagan or Ginger Weeks-Deru @ (256)549-8394, 549-8325 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
