Early College Enrollment Program Applications Available

Gadsden State Community College is offering an opportunity for high school juniors and seniors to take advantage of the 2014-2015 Early College Enrollment Program (ECEP).  ECEP, now in its eighth year at Gadsden State, enables students who have an interest in high-wage/high-demand technical majors to work toward a college degree with free tuition provided, while

completing their requirements for high school graduation.  The program is a partnership between the Alabama Community College System, State Department of Education, Governor’s Office of Workforce Development, and the Department of Postsecondary Education.

The basic requirements for participation include: a strong interest in a technical college program, a minimum GPA of 2.5, recommendation and approval from high school counselor and principal, approval from the school system superintendent, and successful completion of all sections of the Alabama High School Graduation Exam or any other test required for high school graduation.

Applications for ECEP are located in the high school counselor’s office, and printable applications can be found at http://www.gadsdenstate.edu/current-students/jobs/documents/20142015EarlyCollegeEnrollmentApplication.pdf.  Additional information that must be submitted with application packets include: the ECEP Guidelines Signature Page, high school transcripts, and the letter of recommendation and approval.  Completed applications must be returned or mailed by March 31, 2014 to: Pamela Satcher, GSCC Office of Career Services, P.O. Box 227, Gadsden, AL 35902-0227.

Since its inception, approximately 100 high school students have completed ECEP.  For additional information about the program contact the Office of Career Services at 256-549-8605.
