Gadsden State Community College recently received a donation of $2,500.00 from the Etowah County Library Committee. The Committee exists to support the school libraries in Etowah County as well as public libraries. The funding distributed by the Committee is provided by the sales tax revenue.
State Rep. Craig Ford (D-Gadsden) presented the check to Acting President Bill Blow. Dusty Folds, Gadsden State director of library services, said, “We appreciate the donation and thank the committee for their support. We are currently in the process of updating the Meadows Library and this will be used to purchase many new and essential books we need.”
The Meadows Library located in the center of the Wallace Drive Campus in Gadsden is home to over 60,000 books, periodicals, audio books, CDs, and DVDs. It is designed to serve the College’s diverse students, faculty, and staff, as well as the community at large. Gadsden State has additional libraries located on the Ayers and Valley Street campuses, the McClellan Center, and Gadsden State Cherokee. All library locations are members of the Library Management Network, a consortium of libraries with holdings of over one million volumes including electronic books.
