C.A.R.E. Fairs in Anniston & Gadsden
The Gadsden State Counseling and Advising Center is sponsoring two C.A.R.E. (Community Agencies Ready to Engage) Fairs in April as part of the “We Care” Community College Month celebration. The first event will be held Tuesday, April 1, at the McClellan Center in Anniston from 10:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. A second fair will be held Tuesday, April 15 at Inzer Hall on the Wallace Drive Campus in Gadsden from 10:00 a.m. to noon. Various service providers and community agencies will be available to share human services information related to domestic violence, mental health, family and relationships. Students to Be Recognized for Achievements
Gadsden State Community College will hold its Annual Honors Day Programs on Tuesday, April 8 at the McClellan Center Auditorium in Anniston at 2:00 p.m. and Wednesday, April 9 at Wallace Hall Fine Arts Center in Gadsden at 10:00 a.m. Students who have earned special awards, recognitions, and scholarships from four-year universities will be recognized during the programs. In addition, Gadsden State’s three chapters of Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society will hold an induction ceremony for new members Wednesday, April 9 at 6:00 p.m. at Wallace Hall. “Tuesday Topics” and Brown Bag Lunch at McClellan Center
The Counseling and Advising Center in conjunction with the McClellan Center will host “Tuesday Topics” and Brown Bag Lunch (BBL) events. Each of these events will take place in the McClellan Center library at 12:30 p.m. “Something Cool in Math & Science” will kick off the BBLs on April 8, followed by “This Day in History & Literature” on April 15. On April 22, the “Tuesday Topics” seminar will feature Becky Helton, administrator of NHC Healthcare, as the guest speaker on the topic of “Elder Care.” These events are free and all students, staff, and members of the community are invited to attend. Karaoke Coffeehouse at Gadsden State Cherokee
The Gadsden State Cherokee Student Government Association is hosting a Karaoke Coffeehouse on Thursday, April 10 in the Community Meeting Room from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Admission is free and everyone is welcome to attend for a fun-filled evening on the microphone. Veterans Upward Bound Workshop
The Gadsden State Community College Veterans Upward Bound Program will host two free Résumé Writing & Interview Skills Workshops in April. The first workshop will be held Thursday, April 10 at Beck Field House on the Wallace Drive Campus in Gadsden. A second workshop will be held Wednesday, April 23 at the Ayers Campus Learning Resource Center in Anniston. Both workshops begin at 11:00 a.m. and will offer assistance to all veterans in need of refreshing their résumé and preparing for upcoming interviews. The Office of Career Services at Gadsden State Community College will host a Spring Employment Opportunity Fair Wednesday, April 16 at the East Broad Campus Administration Building Auditorium in Gadsden from 9:00-11:30 a.m. This event is open to students, alumni, and community members. Please dress professionally and bring several copies of your résumé. Priority Online Registration Scheduled
Gadsden State Community College Priority Online Registration for Summer Semester 2014 begins Monday, April 21 at noon. Currently-enrolled students who have completed 24 semester hours at Gadsden State, and have a 2.0 GPA or higher qualify for priority registration. Regular online registration begins Tuesday, April 22 at noon. To register, visit www.gadsdenstate.edu and click on the link to Self Service Banner on the left side of the page. View the Class Schedule or “Enter Secure Area” to begin the registration process. Summer I classes begin May 8. Classes for Full summer and summer II begin May 29 and Summer III classes begin July 7.
