Gadsden, Ala.–Margaret M. Gunter, director of communications & governmental relations for the Alabama Commission on Higher Education (ACHE), was the featured speaker for the Gadsden State Community College Fall 2009 Commencement Ceremony. ACHE is the coordinating board for Alabama’s two-and four-year colleges and universities.
Gunter began her career in radio and news broadcasting as a reporter and soon moved into the role as a news director. She served as director of marketing and public relations for a not-for-profit hospital, and as an adjunct professor at Auburn University at Montgomery and Huntingdon College. Among many other awards, she was recognized as the 2001 Outstanding Alumni from Troy University’s Hall School of Journalism and received the Alabama Business Review’s “Award of Excellence” for outstanding performance in a profession during her media years.
“Learning is a lifelong privilege. Choose wisely and keep learning,” said Gunter. She challenged the graduates to dream big and follow their dreams.
