Students at Gadsden City High School will participate in CIA (Careers in Action) Day Friday, December 3 from 8:00 to 11:15 a.m. as part of an event sponsored by the Gadsden City School System.
Gadsden State Community College’s Matthew Burttram, who serves as career coach for Gadsden City, is coordinating the event designed specifically for high school seniors. There will be 16 speakers covering different professions in one of four career clusters, including arts and communication, law and business, health science, and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) and manufacturing. Each student will have an opportunity to hear from professionals in two career clusters of their choice. The idea behind the event is to expose the students to different careers before they graduate from high school. “While some know what field of study they want to enter, many are still unsure. We hope that this event can help them decide what career best suits them, as well as connect them with local professionals,” said Burttram.
