The Cardinal Foundation has offered a book scholarship as an added incentive for incoming freshmen to attend Gadsden State Community College’s Cardinal Commit, a summer orientation for new students.
“The Cardinal Foundation exists to support the mission of the College and provide opportunities for its students,” said Steve Hildebrant, foundation president. “With our mission in mind, I’m proud to announce on behalf of the board of directors a $500 book scholarship to be awarded to one lucky student.”
Incoming freshmen who attend one of five Cardinal Commit sessions will become eligible for a drawing for the $500 book scholarship. The money can be spent at any of Gadsden State’s on-campus bookstores to purchase books or other educational supplies.
Cardinal Commit events will be held from 8:30 a.m. to noon and are available on different dates at four of Gadsden State’s campuses:
- June 27 – Beck Conference Center on the Wallace Drive Campus in Gadsden
- June 28 – Auditorium at the McClellan Center in Anniston
- July 17 – Computer Science Auditorium on the Ayers Campus in Anniston
- July 18 – Gadsden State Cherokee in Centre
- July 19 – Beck Conference Center on the Wallace Drive Campus in Gadsden
Students should arrive at 8:30 a.m. to sign-in and receive their information packet. The opening session begins at 9 a.m. followed by the Cardinal Training Session at 10 a.m. and a Browse Session at 11 a.m.
Students will have the opportunity to register for their fall courses while parents can participate in a training session to inform them about Gadsden State programs and services.
