The Etowah County Bar Association and Gadsden State Community College are hosting “A Patriotic Event: The Reading of the Declaration of Independence” at noon June 30 at Gadsden’s Spirit of American Citizenship Monument on Albert Rains Boulevard.
Local attorney Charles Hart will kick-off the event as the “town crier.” Hart started the annual reading in 2013 as a member of the Alabama Criminal Defense Lawyers Association. The Rev. John James will give the invocation.
The Declaration of Independence has 38 parts that will read by people in the community. Those interested can sign up to read a portion of the Declaration of Independence by calling Denise Welch at 205-910-8245.
