The Gadsden State Community College Music Department will host two concerts and music clinics next week at Wallace Hall Fine Arts Center in Gadsden. Both events are free and open to the public.
On Sept. 19, a clinic featuring the Navy Band Southeast along with the Gadsden State Show Band will be held from 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. in Room 128. A concert performance will be held at 7 p.m. that evening featuring the Navy Band Southeast Wind Ensemble.
Navy Band Southeast is one of 11 official U.S. Navy Bands proudly representing the Commander and Navy Region Southeast. The band consists of thoroughly trained professional musicians dedicated to the highest levels of musical performance. Excelling in versatility through performances at various venues, the band inspires pride and patriotism through music.
“A Taste of Montevallo” will present a recital/clinic on Sept. 21 from 3 to 4 p.m. in Room 128. The group is comprised of music faculty from the University of Montevallo.
“We are excited and honored to have talented musicians of this caliber come to Gadsden to perform and provide clinics for our music students and the community,” said Dr. Matt Leder, music director/instructor at Gadsden State. “We hope that everyone will come out to Wallace Hall for the free concert by the Navy Band as part of their Northern Alabama Tour.” The U.S. Navy Band performs more than 500 engagements annually throughout the Southeastern United States.
