Centre, Ala. — Gadsden State Community College’s men’s and women’s basketball teams will hit the court at the Gadsden State Cherokee Arena Nov. 15.
Local athletes Tori Sanders of Brindlee Mountain, a 5-foot-4 inch freshman and Dakoda Mackey of Sand Rock, a 6-foot-6 inch freshman are playing for the Cardinals this year.
“Cherokee County is one of our most important service areas, and the basketball program wants to have a presence there,” said Mike Cancilla, athletic director. “The arena is a state-of-the-art facility and we are proud to be able to play there. We hope to pack it with Gadsden State Cardinal fans and potential Gadsden State athletes.”
The Gadsden State Cardinals will play Atlanta Metropolitan State College. The women’s team plays at 5:30 p.m. followed by the men’s team at 7:30 p.m.
Basketball players from Cherokee County high schools who attend the game wearing their school jersey will be admitted for free. Current Gadsden State students also can attend free-of-charge by showing their valid student ID. Admission is $5 for all others ages 13 and up.
