Radiologic Technology is the art and science of producing diagnostic medical images using ionizing radiation (x-ray) and other methods. Radiologic technologists, the medical imaging professionals who produce these images, are the third largest category of healthcare professionals, surpassed in number only by physicians and nurses. As with other healthcare providers, proper education is vital to quality patient care. That’s where we come in.
Our Program serves a unique student population that spans new high school graduates to mature adults. The five semester program includes comprehensive coursework and clinical education beginning in the first semester. Our on-campus laboratory offers students the opportunity to learn radiographic imaging utilizing computed radiography and direct digital radiography. All lecture and laboratory courses are offered exclusively on the George Wallace Drive Campus in Gadsden. Clinical rotations are offered at twelve facilities across six counties.
Upon successful completion of the Program students are awarded an Associate in Applied Science degree in Radiologic Technology. The Program is accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT). JRCERT accreditation assures patients that care provided by students will be appropriately supervised and that graduates will have the appropriate knowledge, skills, and professional values expected of a qualified practitioner. Our graduates are also eligible to take the national certification examination offered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). We are proud of the quality of education we are able to offer our students and wish you the best in pursuit of your career.
