Fine Arts Department to host an Evening of Fine Arts
The Gadsden State Community College Fine Arts Department will host its annual Evening of Fine Arts featuring the A Cappella Choir, Gadsden State Singers and Show Band at 7 p.m. April 11 at the Wallace Hall Fine Arts Center. Admission is free and all students, faculty, staff, parents, family and community members are invited to attend.
The A Cappella Choir, under the direction of J.T. Harrell, will perform a variety of choral works which were performed earlier this year at the Alabama Music Educators Association Conference. The Choir was selected to represent the Alabama Community College System division at the Association’s the annual meeting.
The Show Band, under the direction of Dr. Matt Leder, will highlight their productive year and celebrate student success as they perform song selections that include jazz, contemporary hits and the popular sounds of today. The group has performed more than 45 dates inclusive of college events, public concerts, sporting events, high school run out performances, formal concerts and festivals. The Show Band was also invited to perform at the 2017 Jazz Educators JENerations Jazz Festival in New Orleans earlier this year. April Preview Days at Gadsden State
Gadsden State Community College will host three Preview Days in April to allow prospective students of all ages to take a tour and discover each of the technical and academic programs offered at Gadsden State’s campuses in Anniston, Centre and Gadsden. Students can get a firsthand view of Gadsden State Cherokee on April 4, the Ayers Campus on April 5 and East Broad/Wallace Drive campuses on April 11. Veterans Upward Bound holds April workshops
The Gadsden State Community College Veterans Upward Bound program will host a Résumé Writing and Interview Skills Workshop at from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 11 in the Ayers Campus Learning Resource Center (LRC) in Anniston and Beck Field House on the Wallace Drive Campus in Gadsden. The workshop will assist students in refreshing their résumé and preparing for upcoming interviews.
Tech Tuesday BYOD: Learn to use iPad/iPod Touch will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 18 at the Ayers Campus LRC. This workshop is customized to offer assistance in using the latest technology devices.
Military veterans residing in Blount, Calhoun, Cherokee, Cleburne, DeKalb, Etowah, Jefferson, Marshall, St. Clair or Talladega County are invited to take advantage of the free services offered through VUB—a TRiO program funded 100% by a grant from the U.S. Department of Education. Enrollment at Gadsden State or any other college or university is not mandatory in order to participate. LifeSouth Blood Drive at McClellan Center
Gadsden State Community College’s McClellan Center will host its annual student activity day from 10:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. April 12. In addition to the activities, the LifeSouth Community Blood Center bloodmobile will be on campus as students, faculty and staff plan to give back to the community. Technical Employment Fair April 12
The Office of Career Services at Gadsden State Community College will host a Technical Employment Fair from 9 a.m. to noon April 12 at the One Stop Center on the East Broad Campus. Employers and representatives of area companies will be in attendance at the fair. The event is free and open to all technical education majors, students, alumni and the general public. Free Financial Aid Workshop at Gadsden State Cherokee
Gadsden State Cherokee will host a free financial aid workshop at 5:30 p.m. April 19 in Room 130 of the academic building. Gadsden State Financial Aid and Enrollment Specialist staff will be present to inform students and parents about the financial aid process, various types of financial aid and scholarships available, as well as assist individuals in filing their Free Application for Federal Student Aid or FAFSA which can help to offset college expenses. Students to be recognized for achievements
Gadsden State Community College will hold its Annual Honors Day programs April 25 at the Ayers Campus’ Pierce C. Cain Learning Resource Center and April 26 at Wallace Hall Fine Arts Center. Both programs are scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. Students who have earned special awards, recognitions and scholarships from both local foundations/organizations and four-year universities will be recognized during the programs.
Gadsden State’s Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society will hold an induction ceremony for new members at 6 p.m. April 26 at Wallace Hall.

Salon & Spa Management accepting appointments
Gadsden State’s Salon & Spa Management program is accepting appointments for customer days Monday and Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The program is located in the Cosmetology building on the East Broad Campus. All services will be completed by students and are open to community members. Hair, nails and skin care services are available at a discounted price and haircuts are a free service offered to the community. Discounts are offered for current students, faculty and staff.

Massage Therapy clinics at Gadsden State
Gadsden, Ala.—Gadsden State’s Therapeutic Massage Program spring semester clinics are underway at Helderman Hall on the Wallace Drive Campus. Massages are provided by students and the clinic is open to community members at a cost of $25 an hour. Appointments may be scheduled for Monday through Thursday with morning appointments at 8:30 or 10 a.m. and afternoon appointments at 12 and 1:30 p.m. Please call 256-549-8326 in advance to schedule an appointment or leave a message with your contact information so that your appointment may be confirmed.
