Activity I – Improving Student Success and Community Outreach
Activity I is designed to ensure student success, persistence and graduation through the development of innovative and educational initiatives that help students overcome perceived barriers. Strategies to achieve this goal will involve early detection of at-risk students, regular ongoing assessment and tracking of student progress, student success workshops, and in-office student assistance. Outreach efforts will help potential students prepare for rigors of college and strengthen community involvement. These efforts will create a strong and cohesive support system for students. Academic quality and student services will be strengthened.
Activity II – Developing and Advancing Academic Programs
The ongoing development of new academic and technical programs is vital to the continued growth of the Valley Street Campus. Activity II is designed to grow enrollment and enhance the teaching and learning environment through research, new program development and professional development. The activity will provide the equipment and educational resources needed to implement new programs. Professional development opportunities such as workshops, seminars, conferences, and opportunities to pursue educational advancement will be offered. Instructors will be better prepared and students will benefit from their expertise resulting in improved academic achievements. A Diagnostic Medical Sonography and Dental Hygiene/Hygienist Program are proposed for development during this grant cycle.

Activity I – Strengthening Library and Technology Resources
The goal for this activity is to expand and improve library services and enhance research resources based upon the needs of the faculty staff and students. The long term availability of a quality campus library is essential to student success. This activity will also provide assistance in upgrading and enhancing technology into the curriculum. In an effort to provide effective learning resources that utilize technology, Valley Street Campus students will be offered on-demand learning experiences that will stimulate active engagement. Standardizing equipment where possible, including replacing out-of-date equipment will be a goal for this five year period. Technology training will be an ongoing effort for students, faculty and staff throughout the five year period.
Activity II –Renovation and Improvement of Facilities
The structures that house five decades of learning on the Valley Street Campus are in need of internal and external structural enhancements. In order to remain current with educational demands and trends, we must explore and develop avenues for program growth and expansion. The goal of Activity II is to evaluate the long range goals of the campus to determine objectives that will positively impact our status as an institution of higher education. Successful achievement in these areas will result in increasing student access, campus visibility and positively enhance student learning.
