Gadsden State Community College recently held its 51st annual Honors Day events at the Ayers Campus Learning Resource Center in Anniston and at the Wallace Hall Fine Arts Center in Gadsden. The programs spanned two days of recognizing student achievements and scholarship presentations. Over 150 students were honored and more than $1.3 million was awarded in scholarships.
Gadsden State’s Phi Theta Kappa chapter receives honors

The Phi Theta Kappa honor society chapter at Gadsden State Community College earned several chapter and individual member honors at recent conferences.
The regional conference was held at Coastal Alabama Community College in Fairhope. There, the Rho Rho chapter won the Honors in Action Project Award for its project titled “Beauty in Captivity.” Honors in Action projects must incorporate academic research and analysis, leadership roles and leadership development, service or advocacy, collaboration and reflection.
Gadsden State students named to All-Alabama Academic Team

Two Gadsden State Community College students were recently named to the All-Alabama Academic Team, a program of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. Jasmine Adams and Anirban Biswas were honored at the All-Alabama Academic Team Recognition Luncheon at Ross Bridge Hotel and Spa in Birmingham. They will receive $1,000 academic scholarship through the All-USA Academic Program.
Beauchamp wins statewide scholarship award

Gadsden State Community College student Cole Beauchamp has been awarded the 2017 Alabama Home Builders Foundation Scholarship. He was nominated by Deborah Reynolds, electrical engineering technology instructor.
Gadsden State to have Spring Commencement Ceremony May 4

The Spring Commencement Ceremony for Gadsden State Community College will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, May 4 in the arena at Gadsden State Cherokee in Centre.
Featured speakers will be Gadsden State students Jasmine Adams, Brett Bobo and Jean Paul Dumont.

Summer, Fall 2017 registration underway at Gadsden State
Gadsden, Ala.--Registration continues at Gadsden State Community College for the 2017 Summer and Fall semesters. The Summer I term begins May 9; Full Summer and Summer II terms begin May 31.
Gadsden State music instructor to participate in prestigious workshop

Dr. Matthew Leder, a Gadsden State Community College music instructor, will participate in a national residential workshop in New Orleans this summer.
The workshop, “New Orleans: Music, Culture and Civil Rights,” is sponsored by the National Endowment for the Humanities. It will take place July 10-14 at Tulane University.

The Gadsden State Community College Cardinal Foundation is hosting the second annual Everyday Heroes Breakfast at 9 a.m. Wednesday at the One Stop Center on the East Broad Street Campus. All media is invited to attend.
“We are honoring deserving heroes who have made a difference in the lives of others through volunteerism, bravery and selflessness as well as those who have bravely endured hardships or struggles,” said Brian Snell, president of the Cardinal Foundation Board of Directors.
