Our application to the Nursing Assistant Program is now online. Please make sure to have access to a printer when you submit your application. There is a Confirmation Page that you will need to print and keep for future reference.
Admission to the Nursing Assistant Program is competitive, and the number of students admitted is limited by the number of faculty and clinical facilities available.
Drug Screens, Background Checks & CPR
Healthcare agencies have the same requirements of students as they do of their employees, therefore, drug screenings, background checks and CPR will be done at the student’s expense. Do not have a drug screen done or complete a CPR until you are told to do so by your instructor.
The background check is required for admission into the Program. Please use the link below to complete this process. There is a code listed that you will need to complete the correct background check.
Students enrolling in a health science program must provide Gadsden State Community College with the required health care data after admission to the program. Clinical agencies mandate that students provide information regarding their current health status (annual physical and essential function) that may affect the safety of the student or the client in the clinical settings. Various immunizations are required and are subject to change depending on the health care agency requirements.
Clinical requirements must be kept current throughout the students’ tenure in the program. Clinical documents such as Tb skins test, CPR and flu shots must not expire during the semester.
The Health Sciences Division must verify that all students have up-to-date immunizations. Students who do not have documentation of immunization must have blood drawn for titer to see if they are immune.
Due to contractual agreements with various clinical agencies, currently enrolled students may be required to obtain the seasonal flu shots as a clinical requirement.
Students in the Health Sciences must demonstrate proof of health insurance. Students without proof of health insurance will not be allowed to attend clinical.
