bulletKnow how to define and describe proper anatomical position and directional terms for humans
bulletKnow the planes of the body and be able to use the terms correctly
bulletKnow the 9 abdominal body regions and the organs contained within each
bulletKnow the 4 quadrants and the organs contained within each
bulletKnow the terms used to describe the body on page 24 & 25 (figure 1.24)
bulletKnow the terms concerning medicine and applied sciences on page 25
bulletBe able to label pictures of the body cavities, abdominal quadrants, abdominal body regions

 

Chapters 2-4

bulletKnow all topics discussed in class &/or handout

 

Chapter 5

bulletKnow tissues types: epithelial tissue,  connective tissue,  muscle,  nervous tissue - know the types, characteristics, functions, any special features, and where they are found in the body
bulletKnow the 3 types of cells and the 3 types of fibers commonly found within connective tissue – know their functions

 

Chapter 6

bulletKnow the functions. characteristics, and structures found with epidermis, dermis, and subcutaneous layers
bulletKnow differences b/t basal cell cancer and cutaneous melanoma
bulletKnow methods of receiving medications and where they are given
bulletBe familiar with all the accessory skin structures:  hair follicles, nails and all skin glands – know cell types, structures, any secretory products, functions, and any disease states associated w/ each
bulletBe familiar with how burns are classified and how BSA is determined.  Know types of grafting and immediate treatment goals
bulletKnow how aging affects the integumentary system

 

In addition:

bulletKnow the definitions of all vocabulary words (words in bold on PowerPoint)
bulletBe able to answer questions concerning all the topics or movies discussed in class or reviewed in class (such as liposuction, pap smears, burns etc.). 
bulletRead and familiarize yourself with information from your anatomy textbook that relates to all materials covered in class.
bulletBe able to write an essay on any movies seen in class
