   2.   Know the 3 classes of neurons and their functions.

   3.   Know the following neuron structures and what they do:  dendrites, cell body,
axons, myelin   sheath,   Schwann cell, nodes of Ranvier.  Know various types
         of Neuroglia cells.

   4.   Be familiar with these terms:  nerve impulse, resting potential, action potential
         threshold.

   5.   Know the terms synapse and neurotransmitter, and various neurotransmitters.

   6.   Know the following:  peripheral nervous system, somatic system (division),
autonomic system (division), sympathetic division, parasympathetic division,
         reflex arc.

   7.   Know the following:  central nervous system, dura, pia & arachnoid meninges,

   8.   Be familiar with the following brain structures and what they do:  medulla oblon-
gata, pons, cerebellum, hypothalamus, thalamus, cerebrum, reticular formation,
cerebral cortex, primary motor area, Broca’s area, primary sensory (somato-
sensory) area, primary visual area, primary auditory area, sensory association
area, visual association area, auditory association area, and prefrontal area, and
         corpus callosum.

   9.   Be able to label the brain (structures in bold print and corpus callosum).

10.   Be able to label the lobes and various functional areas in number 8 above (from
primary motor area thru prefrontal area).  Visual structures:  neuron/C.S. of
         spinal cord/eye/ear/brain & functional regions/lobes of cerebrum.
