Transfer Guide for Associate Degree

Gadsden State Community College offers an Associate of Science degree in Biology. Occasionally individuals with an Associate of Science degree will be qualified to assist in the maintenance of equipment, and will serve as support personnel in setting up labs, preparing labs, helping take care of research animals or plants, etc.

Most often an Associate degree in Biology serves as an intermediate step in the acquisition of a Bachelors degree. Our Associate in Biology program of study will provide an opportunity for the student to gain an excellent all-around knowledge of both Biology and Chemistry that will allow him or her to be successful in the continuation of their field of study at the University level. Our program as well as our courses will transfer directly to any of the major universities within our state. Studies have been conducted which show that often our students transferring from Gadsden State, with a major in Biology, to a university are actually more successful than those students that started at the university.

Students seeking Associate in Science in Biology should take the Bio 103, and Bio 104 sequence and should seek out the appropriate advisor as soon as possible after entering college to be directed into the proper math and chemistry sequences.
