WHAT IS THE PLACEMENT TEST?
Appropriate class level placement
for English, reading, and math helps to ensure success in a college
career.
Each
incoming student should take the Compass placement test before talking
with an advisor or registering for classes.
However, you must have your
application for admission turned in to the Admissions Office before you will be
permitted to take the placement test.
The Compass
placement test is not designed as a “pass or fail” test; rather, it is administered to determine
your placement in math, English and reading.
Because of the importance of the placement test, you should not
take the test on a day when you are physically ill, fatigued, or experiencing a
high level of emotional stress.
**DETAILED
information (automated) regarding the Compass placement test is available any
time by calling 256/549-8211. Sample
test questions can be obtained on-line at www.act.org/compass.**
