Mental Health Conference at Gadsden State

Gadsden, Ala. — The Continuing Education Department and Division of Health Sciences at Gadsden State Community College are partnering with Gadsden Regional Medical Center and Alabama Area Health Education Centers to sponsor a Mental Health Conference from 8 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. Oct. 20 at Helderman Hall on the Wallace Drive Campus.

“This professional development event provides educational training to local health professionals,” said Pam Clough, director of Continuing Education.  “The conference is designed to help communities by providing continuing professional education that meets identified needs and addresses Alabama’s major mental health concerns.” 

Seminar topics include athletes and mental health; impact and dangers of social media; elder abuse, exploitation and fraud; stress relief and self-care with yoga; and teen substance abuse, trends and updates.

The conference fee is $25 for pre-registration or $35 at the door. Lunch is provided. Nursing attendees will earn 7.2 continuing education units. Social workers will earn 6 CEUs units and nursing home administrators will earn 3 CEUs.  

Vendor booths are available for $75.  Participating vendors may set up beginning at 1 p.m. Oct. 19 or 7 a.m. Oct. 20.
