Gadsden State Cherokee student receives scholarship

Gadsden, Ala. — Emily Allen of Centre has been awarded a scholarship provided by the Women’s Club of Weiss Lake. The partial tuition scholarship is awarded annually to a student attending Gadsden State Community College.

The Women’s Club of Weiss Lake Scholarship was established in 2013 for a deserving female student who resides in Cherokee County and attends Gadsden State Cherokee. The recipient of the distinguished scholarship must have demonstrated academic excellence by maintaining a 3.0 GPA in all courses attempted and completed and by showing financial need.

The Women’s Club of Weiss Lake is a community organization that serves Cherokee County. Members aim to enhance the quality of living in the community. Club members are residents from throughout Cherokee County, many of whom are semi-retired and professionals.
