Centre, Ala. – For nearly half a century, Kerr’s Redi Mix, Inc. has been more than a successful business serving Cherokee County and the surrounding region. Through its work, relationships and commitment to the communities it serves, the company has played a role in supporting growth and development across the area.

Now, Kerr’s Redi Mix is investing in the region’s future in another meaningful way.

The Gadsden State Cardinal Foundation has announced the establishment of the Kerr’s Redi Mix, Inc. Endowed Scholarship for Cherokee County. The scholarship reflects the company’s longstanding commitment to Cherokee County and its belief in creating opportunities for the next generation of students and skilled professionals.

The scholarship will provide support for eligible Cherokee County students pursuing careers in Construction Technology, Education, Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) training and Automotive Technology at Gadsden State Community College.

“Kerr’s Redi Mix, Inc. has been blessed to do business in Cherokee County and throughout the surrounding communities for fifty years,” said Doyle Kerr, founder and owner of Kerr’s Redi Mix. “We have seen firsthand the importance of strong communities, a skilled workforce and opportunities for young people and adults who are working to build a better future. Establishing this scholarship is one way we can give back to the people and communities that have supported our business through the years. We are proud to invest in students from Cherokee County and encourage them as they prepare for meaningful careers.”

For decades, Kerr’s Redi Mix, Inc. has contributed to the growth and development of Cherokee County and neighboring communities through its work in the construction industry. The company’s investment in the endowed scholarship extends that legacy beyond the job site, creating a lasting source of support for students pursuing careers that are essential to the continued success of local communities and industries.

Unlike a one-time contribution, an endowed scholarship is designed to provide ongoing support for students. The Kerr’s Redi Mix, Inc. Endowed Scholarship will generate support for Cherokee County students for generations to come, helping reduce financial barriers while encouraging students to pursue education and workforce training close to home.

Tony Smith, president of the Gadsden State Cardinal Foundation, said the scholarship represents the kind of partnership that creates long-term benefits for students and the communities they will one day serve.

“Kerr’s Redi Mix, Inc. understands that the future of Cherokee County depends on the people who live and work here,” Smith said. “This endowed scholarship is a meaningful investment in students who may become the construction professionals, educators, commercial drivers and automotive technicians our communities need. Doyle Kerr and Kerr’s Redi Mix, Inc. have built a successful business that has served this region for fifty years, and through this scholarship, their impact will continue by helping students build careers and opportunities of their own. That’s a true testament to entrepreneurship and the family-owned business.”

The Gadsden State Cardinal Foundation works with generous individuals, businesses and community partners to create scholarships and other opportunities that help students complete their education and prepare for successful careers.
