Language and Humanities
The Department of Language and Humanities include the department of English, foreign languages and speech.
The Division of Languages and Humanities at Gadsden State Community College provides courses to meet the educational, career, and personal enrichment goals of students. Writing and clear communication are crucial skills that students need to navigate the ever-changing workplace, and these courses prepare students for success in life and in all career paths.
Degrees & Certificates
Nearly all students enrolled in a technical, health-care science, or transfer program will be required to take one or more classes in this division to complete their program requirements.
The Division of Languages and Humanities offers a variety of courses, which include the following:
- English courses, including developmental reading and writing, an English composition sequence, and American, English, and world literature sequences.
- Speech courses, which include Fundamentals of Oral Communication and Public Speaking.
- Humanities courses, which introduce the humanities using selections from art, music, literature, history, and philosophy.
- Foreign language courses, including Spanish and German.
