Gadsden State to host study abroad experience in Ireland

Gadsden, Ala. — Gadsden State Community College’s Language and Humanities Department is hosting a 10-day trip to Ireland as part of a study abroad program. Students may enroll in the accompanying Humanities class (HUM 102) for college credit. Limited space is available for those in the community who would like to go on the trip.

“Students can experience the beauty and wonder of Ireland while earning college credit,” said Robert Dunaway, an English instructor who is coordinating the trip. “Students will be able to experience the food, the culture, the history and the uniqueness that Ireland has to offer. This is a great way to experience a new culture and perspective.”

The trip is scheduled for May 18-28. Highlights of the trip include visits to the O’Donnell Castle, Donegal Town, Giants Causeway, Derry City, Yeats Country and the beach.

The cost is $3,196.36. Pricing includes roundtrip airfare, hotel accommodations, bus transportation and local guided tours. Breakfast and dinner are included every day but one. Lunches are not included. Extra costs include surfing lessons and horseback riding.

A down payment of $100 for the airfare is due Feb. 5. An additional $100 down payment for lodging and meals is due Feb. 10. The balance of the trip is due April 6.

Those interested in the trip to Ireland need to reserve a spot before Feb. 5. For more information, contact Dunaway at rdunaway@gadsdenstate.edu.
