Full- and half-tuition scholarships are available for participation with the Gadsden State A Cappella Choir, Singers and Show Band for the 2019-2020 school year.  Students don’t have to be music majors to participate.  Scholarships are only available for Alabama residents upon completion of a successful audition.  For more information, or to schedule an audition, contact J.T. Gadsden State’s Continuing Education Department is offering “Crash Course in Photography” from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 3 in Room 115 of the Joe Ford Center on the East Broad Campus. Gadsden State Community College’s Veterans Upward Bound program will be available at the main office of Gadsden State Cherokee from 8 a.m. to noon every Monday beginning Aug. 5.  Military veterans residing in the Cherokee, DeKalb or Marshall county area are invited to take advantage of the free services offered through VUB, a TRiO program funded 100 percent by a grant from the U.S. Department of Education. Enrollment at Gadsden State or any other college or university is not mandatory in order to participate.  Free workshops are offered on a range of topics including Tech Tuesday, which teaches eligible participants to use the latest technology, computer skills, financial literacy and résumé and interview skills.  For more information or to confirm eligibility to receive free services, contact the VUB Office at 256-549-8328 or email vub@gadsdenstate.edu.

Gadsden/Anniston, Ala.- Gadsden State’s Veterans Upward Bound program will offer Tech Tuesday BYOD: Learn to use iPad/iPod Touch from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 27 at the Ayers Campus Learning Resource Center and Beck Field House on the Wallace Drive Campus. This workshop is customized to offer assistance in using the latest technology devices.  Please RSVP to 256-549-8204 to attend the workshop. VUB is a TRiO program funded 100 percent by a grant from the U.S. Department of Education. Enrollment at Gadsden State or any other college or university is not mandatory in order to participate. 

Gadsden, Ala.- Gadsden State Community College’s Skills Training Division is conducting computer training courses for those interested in professional development. Classes are available in Microsoft PowerPoint 2016, Microsoft Word 2016 Beginning, Microsoft Word 2016 Intermediate, Microsoft Excel 2016 Beginning and Microsoft Excel 2016 Intermediate. 
 

Classes are open to all ages. Enrollment for each course is a minimum of 10. All classes are held from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. in the Office Careers Lab located in the Realtime Reporting Building on the East Broad Campus. Class dates vary with the first of the classes beginning Sept. 3.  The cost is $99 per class.
