Gadsden State closing July 4 and 5 for state holiday

Based on the Executive Order issued by Gov. Kay Ivey, July 5 has been declared a holiday for state employees.  The Alabama Community College System Chancellor Jimmy Baker has authorized each president to close the colleges on that day.  As such, all campuses and locations of Gadsden State Community College will be closed on July  4 and 5. 

 

Summer Mini III registration at Gadsden State extended

Registration for the Summer Mini III term has been extended through July 8 with classes beginning July 3.  Visit www.gadsdenstate.edu and click on the link to myGadsdenState at the top of the page to begin the registration process or click “apply now” to be admitted. Gadsden State Fall 2019 registration begins July 11

Priority online registration at Gadsden State Community College for Fall Semester 2019 will be July 11 and 12 beginning at 8 a.m.  Currently-enrolled students who have completed 24 semester hours at Gadsden State and have a 2.0 GPA or higher qualify for priority registration. All other registration begins at 8 a.m. July 15 and continues through Aug. 27.  Classes begin Aug. 21 for full Fall Semester and Fall Mini I terms. Gadsden State offers Drive Safe!

The Continuing Education Department at Gadsden State will offer a Drivers Education course from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. July 8-11 at Gadsden State Cherokee in Centre.  The registration fee is $175 per person and certificates will be awarded after completion of the course. Summer photography courses at Gadsden State

Gadsden State Community College’s Continuing Education Department is offering photography courses this summer. The Photography 101 workshop includes three sessions from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. July 16, 23 and 30. The first class includes training on getting to know a camera. The second class is a lesson on how to take the perfect photo with the third class focusing on lighting and a photo assignment. The second workshop – Crash Course in Photography – is 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 3. There will be an hour break for lunch. Both workshops are in Room 115 of the Joe Ford Center on the East Broad Campus. Tech Tuesday, free workshop for veterans 

Gadsden State’s Veterans Upward Bound program will offer Tech Tuesday BYOD: Learn to use iPad/iPod Touch from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. July 16 at the Ayers Campus Learning Resource Center and Beck Field House on the Wallace Drive Campus. This workshop is customized to offer assistance in using the latest technology devices.  Please RSVP to 256-549-8204 to attend the workshop. VUB is a TRiO program funded 100 percent by a grant from the U.S. Department of Education. Enrollment at Gadsden State or any other college or university is not mandatory in order to participate.

 

Salon & Spa Management/Esthetics

Gadsden State’s Salon & Spa Management and Nail & Esthetics programs will be accepting summer term appointments through July 29.  Customer days are Monday and Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.  The program is located in the Salon & Spa Management building on the East Broad Campus. All services will be completed by students and are open to community members. Hair, nails and skin care services including facials, facial waxing and microdermabrasion are available at a discounted price. Haircuts are a free service offered to the community.
