Gadsden State to host Candy with the Cardinals, a community event

Gadsden, Ala. — Gadsden State Community College is hosting Candy with the Cardinals, an event for students, faculty, staff and community members. The free public event will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Oct. 24 on the Wallace Drive quad. The event will move to the Beck Conference Center in the event of rain.

“Candy with the Cardinals is a fun event that is enjoyable and safe for children of all ages,” said Tonya Douthitt, coordinator of Enrollment Services. “We invite our community to come on campus and have a great time in a festive environment.”

This is the third Candy with the Cardinals at Gadsden State.

“We knew after the first Candy with the Cardinals that it was going to be an annual event,” Douthitt said. “It has been well attended both years, so we expect a good crowd again this year.”

Participants are encouraged to wear costumes. The event will once again feature carnival games and activities such as face painting, witch hat toss, corn hole and more. Many of the booths at Candy with the Cardinals are sponsored by Gadsden State programs and student organizations. Attendees can meet and take photos with Gadsden State athletes as well as explore Gadsden Fire Department trucks. Food will be available for purchase.  Information about Gadsden State’s admissions process and programs will also be available at Candy with the Cardinals. The Gadsden State Show Band is scheduled to perform during the event.

“Not only can everyone come out and have a good time but they can also learn more about what Gadsden State has to offer,” Douthitt said.
