Gadsden State to transition to alternative instruction delivery in response to COVID-19

Gadsden State Community College President Dr. Martha Lavender announced that the College will transition to online or alternative instruction for all courses from March 17 through April 3 in response to COVID-19, an infectious coronavirus. Students enrolled in on-campus courses should not come to campus during this period of time.

“There have been no reports of coronavirus on any of Gadsden State’s five campuses,” she said. “We are implementing alternative methods of instruction and modifying our schedule in an effort to protect the health and safety of our students. Spring Break will be observed as planned March 23-27.”

All campus events are cancelled until further notice. College administrators will re-evaluate the situation prior to April 3 and will issue a statement regarding in-person classes and other campus events.

Instructional delivery will be discipline dependent. Students will be contacted by their instructors about the method of instruction and the go-forward plan for each course during this emergency situation. Students are urged to monitor their campus email account for official information.

Staffing will be limited and modified business schedules are in effect at all campuses until further notice. Students are encouraged to conduct College business via online, email or phone when possible.

Online summer registration will take place as scheduled. Priority registration opens March 18 with regular registration beginning March 19. All services and support for registration will be available online and via email. Students should contact their advisor by email if advisement is necessary. Technical issues should be addressed to helpdesk@gadsdenstate.edu.

Students are reminded to practice social distancing (at least six feet) and self-quarantine if symptomatic. Good hygiene should be followed as well. Gadsden State has developed a specific and thorough cleaning and sanitizing plan effective immediately.
