Gadsden State Athletics to host free Father-Son Baseball Camp

Gadsden, Ala. — Gadsden State Community College’s Athletic Department is hosting a unique three-day camp that gives fathers and sons the opportunity to play baseball together.

“Yes, we will be coaching the kids but we will also be coaching the dads,” said Blake Lewis, athletic director and head baseball coach. “The dads will do all of the drills with their sons.”

The Father-Son Baseball Camp is scheduled for 6 to 9 p.m. Aug. 27-29 at the new Gadsden Sports Park behind the College. The camp is open to those ages 6-14. It is free to all participants and is limited to 60 participating fathers or male role models.

Adult participants should bring a glove with them. It is encouraged to also bring a bat; however, bats will be provided for the duration of the camp for those who don’t have one. Water or sports drinks should also be brought to the camp. Dinner will be provided each night for participants.

“This is a wonderful opportunity for sons to engage with their father over a sport that they love,” Lewis said.
