Swearing-in ceremony planned for Gadsden State’s first police chief

Gadsden, Ala. — Gadsden State Community College is hosting a swearing-in ceremony for Chief Jay Freeman, the College’s first police chief. The event will be at 10 a.m. Sept. 29 at the Beck Conference Center on the Wallace Drive Campus.

Freeman was hired in May and assumed his duties on July 3. He currently oversees 12 full-time and seven part-time employees working within the Gadsden State Police and Public Safety Department. The department consists of security personnel and certified law enforcement officers who safeguard the well-being of students, employees and visitors on the five Gadsden State campuses.

The media and public are invited to attend the swearing-in ceremony. Freeman will be available for interviews following the ceremony.
